Dr. Örjan Andersson has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of Chile in Vaasa, with his jurisdiction covering Ostrobothnia, Central Ostrobothnia, and Southern Ostrobothnia. Andersson currently serves as the President and CEO of Novia University of Applied Sciences.

On July 11, 2024, the Ambassador of Chile to Finland, Belén Sapag, accompanied by Consul Jorge Castro Pereira from the Chilean Embassy in Helsinki, officially presented the appointment letter signed by the President of the Republic of Chile, Gabriel Boric Font.

The Honorary Consulate of Chile in Vaasa was inaugurated by Ambassador Belén Sapag on October 21, 2024.

“I am honored and enthusiastic about this assignment, which primarily involves promoting contacts and cooperation related to the green energy transition. Chile has very ambitious plans for the use of wind and solar power, as well as the production of green hydrogen and its related products. This is exciting from a Finnish and Ostrobothnian perspective”, said Andersson.

“The establishment of an honorary consulate in Vasa is an important milestone for Chileans living in the area and those visiting Vaasa, as well as for the bilateral relationship between Chile and Finland. It strengthens Chile’s presence in a region with great potential for cooperation in renewable energy, technology, the maritime industry, and sustainable forestry”, stated Ambassador Belén Sapag.
