Degree Programme in Social Services received a delegation from Tanzania
In September the Degree Programme in Social Services at Novia’s Turku campus welcomed a delegation of two lecturers and three students from our project partner St. Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT).
This visit is part of the joint Team Finland Knowledge project titled “Global Social Workers of the Future: North-SAUT Collaboration”. The project is funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI) and aims at developing the global competences and cultural awareness of the project participants, to benchmark curricula and to get a deeper understanding of what Social Work is from the Finnish and Tanzanian cultural perspective.
During their one-week visit, the delegation will learn about the Nordic and Finnish welfare model, the Finnish education system and discuss curricula benchmarking and development for Social Work education. Among the activities are:
- Visit to daycare and schools.
- Visit to a nursing home for the elderly.
- Visit to a family rehabilitation center and child welfare, and other institutions where social work is involved.
- Discussion on the continuation of the cooperation and planning of a joint course.
Last weekend, the delegation had the opportunity to immerse themselves into the Finnish culture through archipelago life, typical Finnish food and sauna.
