• The students are familiar with studying at NOVIA UAS and are prepared to participate in different study settings 
• The students become familiar with the degree programme, curriculum and the industry of Beauty and Cosmetics 
• The students are familiar with the functions and tools, such as Peppi and Moodle, that supports the study process 
• The students reflect on own studies and future plans and are aware of the significance of personal development in relation to life-long learning and the profession 
• The students can generate new knowledge and create personal learning environments 
• The students can search for and critically view different types of literature and articles within the industry 
• The students can work with others in groups and understand the importance of teamwork 
• The students understand the principle for group learning and have the ability to share their own knowledge

• The students command camera technique 
• The students can photograph using system cameras 
• The students are familiar with photography equipment and can construct a photo studio 
• The students can apply digital photo editing and can apply the method for own pictures 
• The students can apply, analyze and develop looks and an approach that promotes economic and social sustainability through photography and images 
 
Skincare - BC25BK01, 6 ECTS

Competence objectives of the study unit 
• The students have knowledge about skin anatomy, the structure and function of the skin and command the basics within skincare 
• The students have knowledge about different skin types, skin conditions, skin changes and skin problems 
• The students know the impact of the diet on the skin 
• The students command knowledge about products, ingredients, active ingredients and labeling on cosmetic products 
• The students know and can carry out a skin analysis 
• The students are able to do treatments within skincare and beauty care 
• The students are able to do manicure and paraffin-bath for the hands 
• The students command the coloring of eyelashes and eyebrows 
• The students are familiar with the aseptic methods in skin care and follow a good industrial hygiene 
• The students are aware of the profession of a cosmetologist and the practical work in the field 
• The students can apply, analyze and develop an approach that promotes economic, ecological and social sustainability and consumption for product use and services 
 
Makeup - BC25BK02, 3 ECTS

• The students have knowledge about basic makeup techniques and are able to create client makeups 
• The students have knowledge about choices of different makeup techniques, colors and products 
• The students are able to choose suitable colors and products for the client 
• The students are familiar with different makeup tools and products and know how to use and take care of them 
• The students are familiar with the aseptic techniques in makeup and follow a good industrial hygiene 
• The students can apply, analyze and develop an approach that promotes economic, ecological and social sustainability and consumption for product use and services 
 
Hair - BC25BK04, 5 ECTS

• The students have knowledge about the structure and function of the hair and know the basics of hair care 
• The students are able to analyze the hair and scalp and carry out hair wash, hair care treatments and use basic hair styling techniques and tools 
• The students command the basics of hair styling and blow drying techniques 
• The students can use tools and appliances within hair design 
• The students have knowledge of different hair care and hair styling products and their use 
• The students are familiar with chemical safety, the aseptic techniques in hair care and follow a good industrial hygiene 
• The students are aware of the profession of a hairdresser and the practical work in the field 
• The students can apply, analyze and develop an approach that promotes economic, ecological and social sustainability and consumption for product use and services 
 
Color Theory - BC25BK05, 3 ECTS

Customer Service, Sales and Social Media - BC25EE01, 3 ECTS

• The students have knowledge about and follow the customer service process and are able to adapt it in customer service situations 
• The students understand and can communicate with different types of customer personalities 
• The students can carry out an analysis of customer needs and take the needs and wishes of the customer into consideration 
• The students understand the importance of and nurture the customer relation 
• The students have knowledge about sales work for products and services 
• The students can plan, apply and analyze content for social media in Beauty and Cosmetics 
• The students can apply, analyze and develop an approach that promotes economic, ecological and social sustainability and consumption through sales work of products and services and through content on social media 

VAL20009 Survival Swedish, 2 ECTS

After having completed the course you should
- have a basic vocabulary
- understand and be able to use basic everyday phrases
- have some understanding about basic grammar
- be able to ask and answer simple questions and give basic information about yourself, your family and your immediate concrete surroundings
- be able to interact in a simple way provided that the other person speaks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help
