A sustainable food system enables food security and good nutrition for all, without compromising the economic, social and environmental foundations of food security and nutrition for future generations.
Our food production and consumption affects all three dimensions that are important for sustainable development: the environment, people and the economy. Transforming the food system is not only necessary to achieve the global sustainability goals, but also plays a role for public health, equality and the viability of regions. In the Research Theme Sustainable Food Systems at Novia, we work with all these aspects through development and research projects. The Team leader is Heidi Barman-Geust.
