Mohammad Mozumder

I am Dr. Mohammad Mojibul Hoque Mozumder, a post-doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Bioeconomy at Novia University of Applied Sciences, supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation

My research is dedicated to charting a sustainable path for Finland's diverse aquatic ecosystems, including marine coastal and inland waters, by promoting the utilization of undervalued fish species. I focus on the ecological assessment of these waters and work to shape consumer perceptions towards lesser-known fish species, aiming to enhance their market value and contribution to local economies.

I earned my Ph.D. in Biological and Environmental Sciences from the University of Helsinki, Finland, in 2020. My dissertation, titled "Socio-Ecological Resilience of a Small-Scale Hilsa Shad (Tenualosa ilisha) Fishery in the Gangetic River Systems of Bangladesh," underscores my deep expertise in aquatic ecosystems and socio-ecological dynamics. Before pursuing my Ph.D., I completed multiple advanced degrees, including an MSc in International Aquatic Tropical Ecology from the University of Bremen, Germany, and an MSc in International Fisheries Management from the University of Tromsø, Norway. My diverse academic background has equipped me with a rich understanding of fisheries management's ecological and socio-economic aspects.

My career is a blend of research and teaching. I am a part-time lecturer at Novia University of Applied Sciences, where I lead courses and supervise bachelor's and master's students in Natural Resources Management. My teaching experience extends to international schools in Finland, where I have taught Biology and Geography.

I have co-authored scientific papers and presented my research at international conferences. My publications reflect my focus on sustainable fisheries management and the socioecological impacts of environmental changes on small-scale fisheries.
