Power of Potatoes (PoP)
Period: 6.11.2024 - 30.4.2026
Content:
The project plan is to conduct a current analysis of waste from the potato
industry, considering volumes, its current utilization as a resource or waste,
and its economic value for the producer. The aim is to explore the potential
economic benefits for the producer if the waste potatoes were converted into
green fuel in various formats. This green fuel could then be used to offset the
decline in peat utilization in the energy production sector, generating heat
for the property sector, or serving as locally produced green fuel in the
transportation sector. As is well known, it is possible to make different energy
products through the waste from the potato industry, of which perhaps special
mention may be made: biogas, ethanol, methanol or potentially synthetic
fuels. For the above-mentioned reasons, the idea was born that previous
investigations in the area are not relevant at the present time. Which means
that you should do a survey like this again, to investigate the current
profitability and compare it with current energy prices/costs.How has the
change in trade affected the industrial processing of potatoes? What are the
cultivation volumes today? What are the volumes of waste in the industrial
processing of potatoes today? What kind of waste and in what volumes occurs in
primary production (unsold or untaken lots, etc.)?Where does the spill
occur? How is the game used today? Can you create a higher added value by further
processing the waste for the potato industry? How can waste be disposed of in a
sustainable energy policy way?Can you create a sustainable income from the
further development of the waste into a sustainable fuel? What products can be
made from the waste of potatoes today? What do potential production volumes look
like for the various potential products? What investment costs with for
different production choices of further processing of the waste from the potato
processing industry? What estimated product prices could different products
further processed from the waste from the potato industry have, to still be
competitive in terms of price in the trade? Is there also access to tracts that
are not digested today in the towns? What market potentials are there for the
various potential products?Comparison of the product prices further processed
from the waste from the potato industry arecompetitive with fuel imported and
for sale in the local market today. Objective to present basis for decisions on
investments in production facilities for piloting locallyas a separate project.
