
Katariina Rantanen

Katariina Rantanen works as a project specialist at the Faculty of Business. She holds a Master of Philosophy degree with a major in applied mathematics and has also studied statistics and economics. She is currently complementing her competence with engineering studies in energy and environmental technology. Rantanen works with profitability assessment in various circular economy projects.

Current Projects
PoP – Power of Potatoes, 2024–2026
Period: 1.5.2024 - 30.4.2026
The project aims to investigate how residual products and waste from the potato industry can be used to produce green fuel to replace peat in the energy production sector. The investigation covers the volumes of residual products, their management as a resource or waste, and their economic value for the producer.
Demand response - Promoting electricity demand response management in Ostrobothnia
Period: 7.8.2024 - 31.12.2025
The project aims to promote commercial demand response solutions for small electricity users in Ostrobothnia. It includes mapping current solutions, assessing demand potential and profitability, as well as developing business models and implementing demonstrations and pilots. The project also focuses on creating good practices and increasing consumer awareness.
