About the project
Within the project, we want to bring the characters to life using AR (Augmented Reality). The AR characters will be activated via a handy, free app using QR codes in the places where they have lived and worked, but they will also appear online. The concept is being developed at KulturÖsterbotten, while students at Novia's performing arts programme are involved as actors. Novia's unit for research, development and innovation is responsible for the programming.
Project goal
A total of eight ‘hidden’ figures from Ostrobothnian history will be made visible - in 2025, the audience will be able to meet, among others, the 18th-century governor Piper of Korsholm and the ‘founder of Kristinestad’ Lars Månsson Klemets from the 17th-century Lappfjärd.We are also creating a material bank for the web within the project. Material packages are being prepared for both tourist guides and local heritage organisations as well as school groups at different levels, but the material will of course be available to everyone.
We hope that the enthusiasts and entrepreneurs can be integrated into themed tours around the landscape, and that they can inspire the study of history and, for example, also be involved in schools' entrepreneurship programmes.
