Do you want to become a Mentor for International Nursing Students?
We are excited to invite you to participate in our pilot mentorship program for international Nursing Students at Novia University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Health and Welfare. As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to guide and support third-year nursing students during the fall 2024. The primary goal of this program is for students to strengthen their own professional identity and learn more about our Finnish work culture.
The task is to act as a sounding board for students to discuss and reflect on various issues regarding the nursing profession, working life and other related topics.
Together with the mentor, the adept makes a a customized mentoring plan, including goals and a timeline at the beginning of the program. The mentoring then takes place within the framework agreed upon by the mentor and mentee. The mentorship program requires confidentiality and mutual trust between mentor and mentee.
The official language of the mentorship program is English. However, you are welcome to practice Swedish and/or Finnish with your mentee if desired. The program will run from September to early December. Exact start and end dates will be announced later.
Desired qualifications for Mentors:
- Education in healthcare
- Work experience from the healthcare sector.
- Genuine interest in and openness to mentoring (prior experience is not necessary).
- Availability to meet with your mentee at least 3-4 times during the fall.
