Delegation from Zambia visited Novia UAS in Vaasa

Last week Novia UAS hosted delegation from our project partner - the The University Of Zambia (UNZA) and the Copperbelt University (CBU). This visit was part of an exchange visit in an ongoing Team Finland Knowledge (TFK) project called the “Potential of Nano Grids as a Source of Affordable and Clean Energy in Zambia”.

It has been a week of discovery; the delegation met with the management of Novia UAS and the staff from RDI in the Faculty of Technology and Seafaring. They also had the opportunity to visit Stormossen, Wärtsilä’s Sustainable Technology Hub, Aurora Bothnia Engines and represented Zambia in the “Meet the Neighbors” event at the Vaasa Energy Week event. The aim of the visit was to experience firsthand how Vaasa as a region develop in terms of sustainable energy. The project team also discussed potentials for future cooperation.
 
The delegation was accompanied by representatives from Zambia’s Rural Electrification Authority (REA), who presented the energy landscape in Zambia. REA has been identified as a stakeholder in the project. The delegation highlighted that this visit was an enlightening experience and that they have learnt a lot and hope to implement some of the lessons learnt when they are back in Zambia.
 
In the next exchange visit, it will be Novia’s turn to visit Zambia.
