The Waterborne Technology Platform, Waterborne TP,  is a European research and innovation platform focused on the maritime sector. It aims to foster continuous dialogue among stakeholders such as shipbuilders, shipowners, maritime equipment manufacturers, infrastructure and service providers, classification societies, universities, and research institutes. All members aim for innovation and sustainability in the maritime sector.

Novia University of Applied Sciences was approved as a new member by the General Assembly of the platform on 13.11.2024. Novia’s research activities combine operational expertise in the maritime domain with a deep understanding of marine technology, automation, simulation, maritime safety and energy technology.

“These expert areas are merged with the impact of human factors, as well as thorough skills in technology, digitalisation and smart solutions", says Mirva Salokorpi, Research Manager at Novia UAS.

“We are looking forward to joining the Waterborne community and contributing with our experience from over 200 years of maritime education and extensive industry networks", says Örjan Andersson, president at Novia UAS.

The goal is a joint R&D vision for Maritime Industry

The platform has members all over Europe with the goal to establish a continuous dialogue among all waterborne stakeholders, develop a common medium- and long-term R&D vision and Strategic Research Agenda, mobilise and allocate necessary financial resources from various sources and to address social expectations regarding clean, competitive, and safe waterborne transport.

Novia University of Applied Sciences will through collaboration with other stakeholders drive to innovate and address global challenges in the maritime industry. Novia makes an impact both nationally and internationally due to its areas of strength including Sustainable Solutions and Entrepreneurship.
