Novia Launches New Music Production Master’s Programme in English in Jakobstad
Novia University of Applied Sciences is launching a new Master’s Degree Programme in English primarily as online studies: the Master of Culture and Arts, Entrepreneurship in the Arts, Creative Music Production. The studies prepare students to become leaders and experts within their own fields and to operate within the global music industry.
Novia will offer a Master’s Degree Programme in music in the autumn 2023. The programme is provided by Novia in cooperation with the Songwriters Academy of Sweden – Musikmakarna. The programme’s activities are a direct collaboration with the international music industry via songwriting, study visits, workshops, and lectures.
The degree programme in music production provides students with in-depth competence to work in music production at a high level of artistry. It also stimulates the development of the students’ artistic profile. It is targeted at individuals who wish to continue to develop their songwriting and music production. The goal is to provide students with a deeper insight and competence to operate within the international music business.
The Master’s Degree Programme is completely new and the only one in Finland to offer the degree of Master of Culture and Arts. The programme contains 60 ECTS credits and takes an average of 1,5 years to complete.
Through studies, students receive the preparedness to operate as leaders, developers, and experts in the international music business. The studies also provide a Masterlevel. Now a unique chance, because the programme will not be included in Novia’s basic degree programme, and demand will determine whether the programme will be offered again at a later stage.
Mr Mats Granfors functions as the Head of the Degree Programme. Ulla Sjöström from Musikmakarna serves as artistic director of the education.
The application period is open 4–18 January 2023 via studyinfo.fi.
