Self-knowledge and Personal Development

The objective is to develop the student’s ability to understand his/her own actions, develop insight in and ability to identify and embark on measures to implement development needs. The student will enhance his/her self-orientation
at the same time as s/he is developing his/her ability to understand and lead people/personnel.

Increase the understanding of the process of organizing and of the importance of organization in trade and industry. Develop the ability to understand the procedures in organizations, groups and individuals within the organization. Broaden the vision in organizing, developing and changing the organization. Scientific Methods

The student becomes familiar with the meaning of science, knowledge and research methodology. In addition, the student shall come into contact with literature and theses where the relevance of scientific approach is clearly evident. One objective is for the student, before s/he embarks on his/her own thesis, to reflect on the scientific approach and, if possible, find links to his/her own process of thesis writing.

Deepen the insight of the importance of change but also the importance of making critical assessment before the decision. The student becomes familiar with the rewards and problems of leadership, conflicts and crises, as well as identifying, handling and, if possible, finding the solutions for them.

Develop the ability to formulate problems and purposes and, with them as the starting-point, compiling a manuscript for a thesis within the selected domain. The thesis shall train the student to develop new knowledge, using theory and practice as the foundation, within his/her selected domain. The thesis also aims at uniting the institution, the student and the party that has commissioned the research in an integrated development process.

Thesis writing process:
The process starts with the student learning about the foundation of science, including philosophy of science, basic scientific methods as well as common analysis methods and associated data processing software. Dialogue and individual guidance are core activities in the learning process. The work takes place in stages including preliminary reports, elaborated reports, and presentation of the manuscript.
