Prerequisites:
Course-specific competence: The student shall deepen his/her knowledge of symbiotic nitrogen fixation and be able to assess its contribution for the nitrogen supply of the crops. The student shall be familiar with the composition of farmland manure and its importance as fertilizer as well as understand how different storage methods affect these parameters. On the basis of the knowledge of risks for the occurence of plant nutrient losses from farmyard manure in various stages of handling it, the student shall be able to choose appropriate storage methods and points of time for the spreading. The student shall know how to complete extended fertilizer calculations, which e.g. comprise preceding crop value and supplying of farmyard manure as well as choosing appropriate fertilizers. The student shall be able to take appropriate technical and strategic measures in order to optimize the utilization of fertilizing nitrogen and phosphorus of the crop.
