Course-specific competence: The student is familiar with economic concepts, understands how international agreements and regulations within the EU and the WTO affect rural enterprises in Europe and in Finland. The student understands the structure of the European agricultural policy (CAP) and the motivations for the various production subsidies for agriculture. The student is able to apply regulations regarding the various production subsidies of a rural enterprise. The student has knowledge of international trade and the effect of globalization within the natural resources sector. The student acquires knowledge of the preconditions of certain selected geographical areas for plant production as well as develops understanding of the cultural differences between different countries.
