Novia University of Applied Sciences will organise its fifth International Week in the picturesque little town of Jakobstad on Finland’s West coast, 26-28 March 2019. The theme of the week is Creative Teaching Methods in the Field of Culture

The event will take place at campus Allegro, also called the Cultural Campus Allegro of Novia, where Music, Fine Arts, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Performing Arts and Entrepreneurship in the Arts are taught.

The first day of the International Week the Music lecturers will share their best teaching practices with us. The following day will be spent in the company of the Performing arts lecturers and the third day we will get an Arts perspective on teaching.

Our aim is to learn as much as possible from each other. Therefore there will be time for discussion and comparisons after each session. Participants are also very welcome to give a presentation about creative teaching methods used at their own institutions.

Even if the focus is on creative teaching methods in the field of culture teachers from other fields of study as well as non-teaching staff are also welcome to take part.

There is no participation fee and the dinner on Wednesday and visits mentioned in the programme are free of charge.
The participants will cover costs for travel, accommodation and meals not mentioned in the programme themselves.
We will be happy to assist with all documents if the exchange is an Erasmus+, Erasmus Global or Nordplus teacher or staff exchange.

If a teacher needs to teach as part of a teacher exchange there is a possibility to do so on Monday 25 March or Friday 29 March either at the campus in Jakobstad, or, if your subject doesn’t fit in the cultural fields of study, at the campus in Vaasa, which is situated about 100 km from Jakobstad. The fields of study offered in Vaasa are Social and Health Care, Engineering and Business administration. Co-teaching with a lecturer from Novia might be an option.

The deadline for application is 15 February 2019 but we will confirm the participation for those who have registered earlier at the beginning of January. In that way you can book your trip well in advance. Please contact  if you have any questions regarding the application.

In order to enable an interactive programme we will accept no more than 20 guests altogether, and not more than two participants from each university.

We look forward to welcoming you to Finland and Jakobstad!

Kind regards
